 Robert January

 EXHIBITIONS & BIBLIOGRAPHY

Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, January received a BA in philosophy at the University of Texas and after graduation worked as a journalist in the Middle East, specializing in energy and Arab affairs. In 1999, January began to sculpt, draw and paint the human figure following a life-changing experience in the Algerian Sahara.  High on the third plateau of Tassili N'Ajjer, the greatest outdoor art museum on earth, the life and vigor of 30,000 year old figurative wall paintings planted a seed that took root.

His drawings and paintings have been juried into local, national and international shows including the Salon d'Automne, Paris, an important annually juried international art exhibition where Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso and Maillol first became known. In the fall of 2009, Fairfield University held a solo exhibition of over 100 of his works.
